Hi, I'm Amanda Summers! I'm from Berea, born and raised. This is my seventh year teaching, and my 2nd year at LUA. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's in Literacy. My husband and I have two kids at home, Kaden and Lily. We are an animal loving family with a dog, a rabbit, and fish.
Teaching is my passion. I love to work with children. Outside of school I enjoy as much time with my family as possible. My husband and I are active, we love to hike, explore and find new adventures to go on. I don't have much time for it, but I do enjoy crafting, especially painting as well. I'm excited for this school year with my friends in Pre-K 3!

Ustatha Fathia Shalash, Arabic/Islamic Studies/Quran

My name is Fathia Shalash. I am an Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Quran Teacher at Lexington Universal Academy. I was born in Kuwait where I acquired my high school diploma. After high school, I moved with my family to Jordan where I attended Islamic Community College. I received a diploma in Mathematics and a certificate in Islamic Studies. After college, I moved to Palestine where I worked as a kindergarten teacher for two years. Then, I got married and moved to America. I worked at a weekend Islamic school for a year.ren, all of whom have attended or are currently attending LUA. After a six year break from teaching to raise my four children, I was hired as a special needs educator with Fayette County Public Schools. I remained at this job for one year. When my son began attending LUA I started volunteering and became a member of the PTO. Then, I was hired as an assistant, helping to teach kindergarteners. This is my third year teaching Arabic, Quran, and Islamic Studies at LUA. For me, LUA is my home. I love teaching children and helping them apply Islamic values in their daily lives.
